Working with Data Groups

Data groups allow you to define what data an operator can see. If an operator doesn’t have access to a data group, the data in that group will not appear when that operator logs in to Aperio eSlide Manager. A data group can consist of a pathologist, a sample type, a project or department or any other grouping or association that is logical given the purpose and structure of your organization. By populating data groups with entities and assigning roles within the data group to those entities, you can control who has access to what data and who can perform certain actions in Aperio eSlide Manager.

Should you choose not to use data groups, all data and users will automatically be assigned to the Default data group. Upon installation, an administrator has full control of the Default data group and non-administrative users have no access to it. The only persons authorized to grant user access to the Default data group or create a new data group are the administrators.

You can sort the list of data groups either by clicking underlined column titles or using the Sort command at the top of the list to perform a multi-column sort. (See Sorting.)
