WebViewer Settings

The following global settings apply to the Aperio WebViewer digital slide viewer.

WebViewer Slide Tray Sort Order

When viewing a case in the web-based viewer, the Slide Tray groups the slides by specimen. This setting enables you to further define the sort order of the slides within each specimen group, including multi-level sort orders.

To define the sort order:

  1. From the Administrative menu, select System Settings. The WebViewer Slide Tray Sort Order area is located in the WebViewer Settings at the top of the page.

  2. Click Edit under the sort table to open the WebViewer Sort Order options.

  3. Click Add Row to define the first sort criteria.

  4. In the Sort By column, select the first sort option you want to use.

  5. In the Sort Order column, select ascending or descending for most options.

  6. In the Sort Method column, select Natural or Alphabetical for most options.

  7. To add a second-level sort, click Add Row and follow the above steps to define the sort criteria.

  8. To re-arrange the sort order within the table, click the up or down arrows to move the sort row up or down the list. To delete a sort row, click the X.

  9. When you have finished defining the sort options, click Save.

WebViewer Sort Order Options

The following table defines the different sort criteria. The first row defines the primary sort, the second row defines the secondary sort, and so on.

Sort By

Determines the item to sort by. For example, Barcode ID, Block ID, or Stain Display Order.

Sort Order

For all options except Stain Display Order, you can sort the data in ascending or descending order.

You set the Stain Display Order in the Stain Management area.

Sort Method

For all options except Stain Display Order, you can use a Natural sort or an Alphabetical sort.

Natural sort orders data alphabetically, but treats multiple digits as a single number. For example, 12 equals the number twelve. Alphabetical sort treats multiple digits as multiple numbers. For example, 12 equals the number "one" and the number "two."

The sort order appears like this:

  • Natural sort - "AB2, AB11."

  • Alphabetical sort - "AB11, AB2."

Actions

When you define multiple-level sorts, use the arrows to move a sort criteria row up or down the list, or click the X to remove the sort.

WebViewer Length Unit

The WebViewer Length Unit setting determines whether Aperio WebViewer uses microns or millimeters when displaying measurements. To set the unit of measure, click Microns or Millimeters from the list, and click Save. The default value is Microns.
