Several internal applications that pass data back and forth behind the scenes, such as Aperio Algorithm Framework and ImageServer, use passwords to communicate with other components of the Aperio system.
To protect those passwords, a specific user in Aperio eSlide Manager is designated the owner of the Aperio application, and the password for that user is maintained within the Aperio eSlide Manager database itself.
The Applications page shows a list of Aperio applications.
Choose a user from the Owner drop-down list. The application will then run logged in as that user and will use that user’s password to log into other Aperio applications.
The default owner for Leica Biosystems Aperio applications is the global administrator because these applications need permissions and rights that the global administrator has by default. Although you can define a new user solely for use as application owner (for example, ImageServer_Owner), be sure to give that user a role that has access to all Aperio eSlide Manager data and all administrative rights.
